Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of the tibialis anterior allograft for the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament.

Materials and Methods: We reviewed twelve (9 males, 3 females, mean age 37.5) patients who underwent ACL reconstruction using the tibialis anterior allograft and followed up more than a year. These cases included 9 men and 3 women who had a mean age of 37.5 years. There were 5 cases of the isolated ACL injury, 7 cases with combined MCL injury, and 5 cases with combined meniscus injury. The average follow up period was 19 months. 8 cases sustanined the sports injury, and 4 cases sustained the traffic accident. We performed arthroscopic ACL reconstruction at mean of 2.3 months after initial injury. For femoral fixation, RIGIDfix was used, and for tibial fixation Intrafix was used in all cases. We retrospectively reviewed the preoperative and postoperative data of the Lachmann test, the pivot shift test, the KT-1000 arthrometer measurement, the Lysholm score, and the HSS score. And we compared the data statistically (p<0.05).

Results: All cases had significant improvements in terms of the Lachmann test, pivot shift test, KT-1000 arthrometer measurement, Lysholm score, and HSS score (p<0.05). But there was one case of allograft tendon removal due to postoperative infection.

Conclusion: Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction with the tibialis anterior allograft will generally yield a successful clinical outcome, but we belive that selection of uncontaminated allograft tendon and careful preparation of the allograft will be necessary to minimize postoperative infection.
